The last teacher contract didn't have base increases but most do get an increase each year based on this schedule which gives raises for years of service and additional education. This can be up to a 9.33% salary increase.

When a teacher retires they recieve severance payments paid over 3 or 4 years. Based on years of severance and accumulated sick days, this payment can be quite large. Over 1 million dollars were paid out in 2012 as detailed in Download.

The current contract was going to expire 6-30-13 why was it extended for one year on October 4, 2012 with so little additional savings. Maybe they wanted to ensure that the step raises would not be lost or not more than an additional 1% of healthcare cost would be pick up by employees if negogiations where held after the election.

They range from sports to student groups. $484,000 is currently being paid to teachers over and above their normal salary. Some schools utllize volunteers to perform some these duties. At some schools teachers perform these duties as part of regular salary..

Close to $450,000 was spent last school year on substitute teachers. Teachers are paid $36 per hour if they teach during their planning/conference time.

Article XLV of the the contract allows tenure after 3 years. Tenure(continuing contract) remains in effect, unless termination for cause under ORC 3319.16. Why is does Rocky River give tenure in 3 years while the state average is 7 years (state map)?
